Military law is a body of rules, regulations and procedures regulating the functioning and governance of members of armed forces. Army Act, 1950, Indian Air Force Act, 1950 and Indian Navy Act, 1957 regulate and govern the military forces for an offense of desertion, disobedience of orders, absence without leave or dereliction of duty. Armed forces Tribunal is established under the Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 in order to have a disciplinary and quick resolution in matters for military and paramilitary forces. The tribunal exercises all jurisdiction, powers and authority under the act and in relation to appeal against any order, decision passed by a court martial.
